The Lodge and Shower House

The Mooney Lodge

Built in 2000. The Mooney Lodge was constructed by volunteers made up of scouters, parents, and members of the Nantucket community. Much of the materials were donated. It serves today as the main meeting place for the local Scouts.

Except for the kitchen, the main floor of the lodge is open to visitors, and contains a ping pong table, a bumper pool table and foose ball. Any and all use of the lodge must be supervised by adult leaders

Please use only the front door to enter and exit the building. Scrape the bottom of shoes on the grate before entering.

The kitchen is off limits. Bathrooms are reserved for adult/female use only. Scouts under eighteen are to use the shower house bathroom facilities.

The lodge is not for overnight use. In the case of severe weather, the porch can be used to shelter scouts. Under no circumstances should wet scouts and their equipment go into the main room.

For security purposes the center light over the porch steps can be left on overnight.

At the end of a unit’s visit, the lodge should be swept out, and all windows and doors should be closed and locked.

The Shower House

The Shower House, like the lodge, was built in 2010, by volunteers.

Any unit that makes use of the shower house must also be responsible to see that it is clean as part of the process of breaking camp at the end of their visit.

Consistent with Scouting rules, the camp shower house has a bathroom for scouts under the age of eighteen.

The “Adult” bathroom contains, in addition to a toilet and sink, a hot and cold running shower, and confirms to special needs individuals use. It can be used for adults and female minors.

There are four outdoor showers with hot and cold running water. It is up to the units to coordinate female use through the use of scheduling and supervision.
